The long-awaited anime Yakuza Fiance: Raise Your Partnerbased on the manga by Asuka Konishi, is getting a special release ahead of its official premiere. As announced on the anime’s official website on Friday, a special episode titled “Kansai Prologue-hen” will be available on Amazon Prime Video in Japan for a limited time on September 28 and 29. This hour-long special episode will focus on Osaka’s story, giving fans an exclusive look ahead of the anime’s general debut on October 7.

The episode “Kansai Prologue-hen” aims to immerse viewers in the events that occurred in Osaka prior to the anime’s main plot, which unfolds between Japanese mafia, or yakuza, clans in Tokyo and Osaka. This focus on Osaka highlights the story of the protagonist, Yoshino Somei, and also gives context to her past as princess of the Somei crime family, a prominent Osaka clan.

Following the release of this special episode, the anime will have its official premiere in Japan on October 7. It will air first on the Tokyo MX channel at 11:00 p.m. (JST) and then on BS11 at 12:00 a.m. (JST) on October 8. Additionally, the AT-X channel will begin streaming the series from October 9. For those who prefer to watch it online, Yakuza Fiancé will also be available on Amazon Prime Video starting October 7 at 11:30 pm (JST).

For international viewers, Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will stream the series in several regions, including North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

A top-notch cast and crew

The anime features an impressive cast that will bring the characters from the manga to life. Hitomi Ueda will play Yoshino Somei, the protagonist and princess of the Somei clan. Akira Ishida will voice Kirishima Miyama, the grandson of the head of the Miyama clan, to whom Yoshino is engaged in an arranged marriage.

Other notable cast members include Kōji Yusa as Shoma Toriashi, Hiroshi Kamiya as Azami Suo, and Yōji Ueda as Renji Somei, among others.

The anime is produced by director Toshifumi Kawase, known for previous works such as Mission-E y Tenjho Tenge. Rika Takasugi, recognized for her work in Ōoku: The Inner Chamberssupervises the scripts and writes the series. Itsuko Takeda is responsible for the character design, while Hiroaki Tsutsumi and Masato Suzuki compose the music. The latter have worked on popular productions such as Dr. Stone y Jujutsu Kaisen.

Accustomed to people respecting her and avoiding her for her mafia ties, her life takes an unexpected turn when her grandfather makes a truce with the Miyama family of Tokyo, leading her into an arranged marriage with Kirishima Miyama, the grandson of the clan leader.

At first, Kirishima appears to be kind and polite, but he soon reveals his dark side. This makes Yoshino realize that he is more disturbing than any other gangster she has ever met. What follows is an emotional rollercoaster between the “yakuza princess” and her twisted “yakuza prince.”

The manga has gained popularity and was awarded the top prize at the fourth annual Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards in 2018, cementing it as one of the most promising stories within its genre.
