Hong Kong’s new Capital Investment Entry Scheme has received more than 500 applications from high-net-worth individuals around the world as of Sept. 13, according to Invest Hong Kong, part of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.

The value of investment resulting from these applications is estimated at more than HK$15 billion (US$1.92 billion), Invest Hong Kong said on Monday.

“The rising numbers of applications reflect the strong confidence of high net worth individuals in Hong Kong,” said Alpha Lau, general manager of investment promotion at Invest Hong Kong.

The project, launched on March 1, attracts successful businesspeople and innovative entrepreneurs, and builds on the strengths of Hong Kong’s asset and wealth management sector, she added.
