South Holland Province and Shandong held a partnership-building event for companies from both sides to strengthen agricultural ties and promote mutual growth.

Around 200 representatives, including Meindert Stolk, vice-governor of South Holland, Chen Ping, vice-governor of Shandong, and businesspeople from both countries, attended the event, held on Friday.

In his speech, Stolk highlighted that Shandong is known in China for its agriculture, particularly in the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, aquaculture and livestock farming, while the Netherlands is the world’s second largest exporter of agricultural products.

South Holland has significant advantages in modern greenhouse technology and horticultural industry clusters, and there is ample room to further deepen agricultural cooperation between the two regions, he said.

Tjerk Opmeer, director of the International Department of the Dutch Business Agency, emphasized the “long-standing friendly relations” between the Netherlands and Shandong. “Right now, we have around 80 Dutch companies that have invested in Shandong and more than 40 Shandong companies that have established their businesses in the Netherlands,” he said. “Therefore, the cooperation between our companies covers a wide range of industries, such as agriculture, water resources management, healthcare, new energy, maritime, logistics, advanced manufacturing, etc.”
