Commerce Minister Wang Wentao has outlined a series of priority measures aimed at further opening up China’s market to the outside world. Wang made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua after the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held earlier this month, stressing that opening up is a defining feature of China’s modernization.

“The plenum stressed the commitment to the state’s basic policy of opening up to the outside world, and the decision adopted at the session uses an entire chapter to set out plans to pursue high-standard opening-up, which demonstrates China’s unwavering determination to open its doors wider,” he said.

To implement the strategic plans made at the CPC plenum, China’s trade authorities will promote the country’s alignment with high-standard international economic and trade rules and harmonize rules, regulations, management and standards related to property rights protection, industrial subsidies, environmental standards, labor protection, government procurement, e-commerce and the financial sector, Wang said.
