Participating in Gastrobeats for the first time, Indonesia received a positive response from thousands of visitors. Held for nearly a month from 31 May to 23 June 2024 at Bayfront Event Space, Marina Bay Sands (MBS), Gastrobeats is an annual food and music festival in Singapore that is very popular among locals and tourists.
Gastrobeats coincides with the installation festival “i-Light Singapore”. This festival was officially launched by Singapore’s Minister for National Development, Desmond Lee, on 31 May 2023.
Indonesia’s ambassador to Singapore said Indonesia’s participation in Gastrobeats 2024 was an initiative of the Indonesian embassy in Singapore to integrate the promotion of Indonesian gastronomy, creative economy products and cultural arts performances in Singapore.
In the “Wonderful Indonesia” zone, seven Indonesian culinary companies in Singapore present a variety of typical Indonesian foods: Indo Express, Indo Chili, Smile Martabak, Embassy 1967, J Co Donuts, Rejuve and Ayam Bakar Taliwang. Meanwhile, there is a retail experience stall offering a shopping experience for a variety of craft and fashion products made by Indonesian artisans and MSMEs, such as cloth bags, batik and kebaya, and sportswear.

In addition, Gastro Indonesia also hosts an “Indonesia Night” every week featuring artistic and cultural performances by Indonesian artists, namely Givo Dancers and Barika Band from Batam, and “Indonesia Saturday’s Tunes” featuring musicians from the Indonesian diaspora such as Arnold Pontoh and Soukma.
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno visited Gastrobeats on Tuesday (4/06) on the sidelines of his visit to Singapore to attend the World Cities Summit 2024. He hopes that several brands participating in Gastrobeats can open up international market opportunities for Indonesian creative economy products.

The “Indonesia Night” performance on July 9 attracted increasing attention from visitors, who competed for prizes in the form of Singapore-Indonesia vouchers and airline tickets, as well as a series of attractive gift bags delivered by Garuda Indonesia and Citilink.
Indonesia’s participation in Gastrobeats 2024 went well and made Indonesia more widely known to the Singapore public. Vendors filling the Indonesian area expressed their gratitude to the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore for the opportunity to help promote Indonesian cuisine.
Gastrobeats visitors, who had the opportunity to taste food and buy products from the Indonesian area, also received an extraordinary reception.
