An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 shook Ishikawa this Saturday, a prefecture in central Japan affected by Monday’s earthquake that killed at least 98 people, announced the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The new earthquake occurred at 05:26 local time (20:26 on Friday in Lisbon) with an epicenter around 10 kilometers deep in the Noto peninsula, according to the JMA.
Local authorities did not report any damage caused by Saturday’s earthquake, nor additional disruptions to road or rail transport networks.
Many of these infrastructures remain damaged since Monday’s earthquake, which is hampering search and rescue efforts for the missing.
Around 240 people affected by this earthquake are still missing.
