The China-ASEAN Expo 2023 (CAEXPOTE) kicked off on Friday in the resort city of Guilin, south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, highlighting new opportunities in the tourism sector.
The three-day event attracted participants from 37 countries and regions. Various activities, including culture and tourism forums, investment fairs and promotion conferences, were held during the exhibition.
This year’s CAEXPOTE had the theme “Meeting each other in the beautiful land, starting together hand in hand”. Seven exhibition areas were created with different themes, including domestic tourism, cultural heritage tourism, travel equipment and overseas tourism, among others.
China has become the biggest source of tourists for ASEAN and one of the favorite travel destinations for ASEAN tourists, said Lu Yingchuan, vice minister of Culture and Tourism of China, at the opening ceremony. “By participating in this event, we look forward to welcoming Chinese travelers back on exciting, new, value-driven and action-packed itineraries to experience the latest and greatest of Malaysia’s offerings,” promised Mohd Zamri, Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, the country of honor for this year’s exhibition.
